The Union County Republican Party is proud to announce that United States Senator Richard Burr will the be the Key Note Speaker at the March 14th Lincoln – Reagan Day Dinner at the Agricultural Center in Monroe. The event begins at Noon following the County Convention earlier that morning. If you would like to attend tickets are available which include a luncheon buffet from Spiro’s Hill Top Restaurant. Tickets/reservations are available at $30 per person. Also sponsored tables of eight are available: Gold (front and center) $1,000, Silver $500, Bronze $250. The 2009 Union County Republican Convention and Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner date has been set for Saturday, March 14, 2009.
The convention will be held at the traditional location, the old county court house in Monroe during the morning. The Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner will take place beginning at noon at the Agricultural Center in Monroe. This year’s event chairman is John Steward and if you would like to volunteer your help with this event call John at: 704-821-9310 or email at uniongop@aol.com

Filing For The 2009 Municipal Elections!

FILING FOR THE 2009 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS!
Filing for the 2009 elections will begin on July 6, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. until noon July 17, 2009.
The filing fee for all offices is $5.00. You must be 21 years old to file (NC Constitution Art.VI § 6)
Just a few things we would like for you to do so that the filing process is not interrupted. Please do not have cell phones on. Please listen to the person who is filing you and if at all possible do not engage in a conversation while filing. If you do all these things it will make the process go faster and more effective.
You will be asked if you have ever been convicted of a felony on the Notice of Candidacy form.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WHEN I COME TO FILE?
1. You will need to bring 5.00 for the filing fee.
2. Have your candidate committee name. (Ex: John Jones for Mayor)
3. You should have your bank account set up and bring the account number.
4. You will need to have in mind if you intend to spend more or less than $3000.
5. You will need to know who your treasurer is going to be. Your spouse can not be your treasurer.
6. Your treasurer must take a treasurer training class with the State Board of Elections. State law
requires it. (On State Board Web Site)
7. Last but not least please bring your patience this is a process that will be taken seriously.
