Union County Young Republicans will host a GOP commissioner candidate forum on April 15, 2010 at 7pm at Hemby Bridge Elementary School, 6701 Indian Trail Fairview Road in Indian Trail. Co-sponsored by the Union County Republican Men’s Club, the event is free and open to the public. The forum will provide an opportunity for all Republican primary voters to understand candidates’ positions on the many issues facing Union County.
“Union County Republican voters deserve an informed decision in the May 4 primary,” said Douglas Hutton, Chairman of the Union County Young Republicans. “This is their opportunity to hear directly from the candidates as to how their positions align with Republican principles of limited government, lower spending, and lower taxes.”
In addition to questions developed by the Young Republican and Men’s Club memberships, the candidates will also field questions submitted by the public. Anyone can submit a question in advance by e-mailing gopforum@ucyoungrepublicans.com. Audience members can also submit questions as they arrive at the forum.
“Republicans believe in transparency and accountability for our elected officials,” Hutton said. “From the future of the hospital to the infrastructure needed for commercial development, the issues facing Union County now will impact life here for many years to come. There is no better way to encourage accountability than have all candidates publicly reply to the concerns of the voters.”
The forum will consist of candidate introductions, two rounds of questions with the same topic directed to all candidates, four rounds of questions with different topics addressed as submitted by the voters, and a concluding statement by each candidate.
“We are confident that whatever Republican candidates are selected in the May 4 primary will ultimately carry the party to victory in November. This forum will help the party’s voters make the best choice to ensure the Commission remains in Republican hands.” For additional information, please contact Douglas Hutton, Chairman of the Union County Young Republicans, at info@ucyoungrepublicans.com or 704.776.3901.
